I am happily married to Jerome A. Cook, who is the principal of Jess Lanier High School.  We have one daughter, Jeromese, a freshman at Jacksonville University.  We are residents of Bessemer.  It is important for my husband and I to live, work, shop, and worship in this great city.  We are committed and dedicated to the community, students and parents of Bessemer.  I love traveling, shopping with my mother and sister, quiet time at home, and reading a good book.

As reading coach, some of my responsibilities are to provide professional development to teachers, coordinate assessment activities, and work with struggling readers.  In addition, I had the opportunity to work with two skillful teachers of reading, Sarah Person and Beverly Underwood, who served as K-3 and 4-6 ARI Facilitators.  Through months of collaboration our team provided job embedded professional development to all teachers in the area of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

My goals are to have a 10% increase in DIBELS scores each year, begin a longitudinal study of the students in first grade (2006-07 school year), receive National Board certification, and conduct monthly workshops for parents and teachers.

I love my job.  I approach each day with a positive attitude - ready to provide support to my colleagues and students. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION !!!!
