My name is Octavia Evans and I have been teaching for 11 years. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While attending UAB, I was chosen to be a member of the Exceptional Mentoring Teacher Program and recognized as Outstanding Student in Early Childhood Education. I have also met requirements to obtain LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Certification. In April of 2023, I obtained my Master’s of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well. During this time, I was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines. I am also an active member of the UAB School of Education Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society. I currently serve as a teacher representative on our school district's E.L. committee. I have a passion for teaching our little scholars and helping them grow. In my free time, I enjoy baking and spending time with my family.
